Platy weird behavior

DonSolo220

Hi everyone.

Meet Charlie Tuna. We have had him for about 2 months now. Lately he has been acting weird. He will turn sideways and quickly rub (almost twitch like) against plants, gravel and decorations and then quickly return to normal. is this common? Anything to be concerned about?

He is in a 20 gallon tank with live plants. Tankmates are 2 male platys, 1 male guppy and 1 pleco. Water is tested regularly and parameters are primo.

ph - 7.4
Nitrates - 5
Nitrites - 0
Ammonia - 0
Temp - maintained between 78-80

Attached is a photo of him just as he turns sideways and about to rub against the Anubis. I have videos but it doesn’t look like I can attach the vids.

It's called flashing and it means something is irritating him. Usually this is ich or another external infection. But bad water quality can cause it too.
