I have two female platy and one male. My females are really big with fat bellys, not pregnant! My male looks tiny next to them is it normal for females to be bigger?
Both females have been like.it for months now so I don't think it's that! And thank youSome female animals generally are bigger than the other sex , and vice versa . So yes that's normal , with platys, the females get to 2in, whereas males are at 1.5in most. but there is a chance she could be pregnant as well. Do you see a gravid spot ? Platys can get pregnant every 30days .
With most livebearers (so, not all) females tend to grow bigger than males. Which also goes for such platies.I have two female platy and one male. My females are really big with fat bellys, not pregnant! My male looks tiny next to them is it normal for females to be bigger?
Okay thank youThey are most likely pregnant 29 days a month, I've had 2 females for 5 months with no males and they STILL stay fat and prego all the time. Sometimes if I look really closely in the morning I'll see some fry but they'll be eaten by the time I come back in the afternoon; I believe that's what's happening for you.
