Platy Pecking Order?

hi! I’ve been noticing some odd behavior in my platys that worry me a little bit. First of all, I have four platys and two Corydoras. One male platy and three females. My male is being pretty aggressive towards one specific platy and usually ignores the other two. I got these two days ago, and it’s starting to worry me. Secondly, I noticed that my platys will go up to a surface and scrape themselves on it. I suspect they might have ich, so I will probably use the heating and vacuum method. I was thinking about adding more platys to even out the males aggression. What would you suggest?

You should get more corydora, they prefer groups of 6-8 or more.

What size is your tank? They could be feeling crowded. Also some fish will bully other fish that are more sick. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is what your Platy is doing.

Get more platties if your tank had the space for it, but first medicate your fish and wait until sickness is completely gone

I have a 36 us gallon bow front, and I’m planning on adding more Cory’s soon. Thanks for the advice

Males can be... crazy. Sometimes it's just their personality and other times I've had one male zero in on one female. Adding more females should help.

About them scraping off decor or the substrate is, in my experience, because the water quality is low. You might want to test the water real quick. (Could also be because of stress.)

It turns out, it was ich, and my fish are officially ich free with no more scraping
