My platy female was looking extremely pregnant last night so I put her in the birthing tank. When I woke up this morning, instead of babies I found this... She still looks somewhat pregnant, but not nearly as big as she was last night. What's going on? There's at least 20 to 30 of these orange blobs in the bottom of the birthing tank, but no baby fry.

It looks like she aborted her fry before they were ready. The blobs are underdeveloped fry. My guess is she got stressed when you moved her and thats what caused her to abort.

I would avoid putting fish in those type of breeding boxes. They are extremely stressful for fish. If you want to keep the fry, put her in another tank with lots of decor to give birth, then move her back to the main tank, leaving the fry in the second tank by themselves.

Just leave her in the tank and save what you can, that’s aborting from stress
