What are your parameters? I would do minimum 30% water changes if I only had the betta in such a small tank. With messy platies I would do a lot more!

Welcome to the forum and I wish you continued luck with your babies!

You guys really don't want new forum members do you ?

It's a long story but here goes... Betta was alone in that tank with the invisible shrimp, gf sends me a pic one day of the 3 platy she got sold at the LFS in the tank (the dude there said "more than enough space" and they'll play just fine with the Betta).

No idea of parameters, no deaths or illness in 3 months... happy hungry fish is generally the order of the day. You are right about the platy being messy, I am considering getting rid of them as I didn't put them there in the first place, just seeing how it goes really...

Who says we don't want new forum members? I wasn't mean, I just pointed out that you might need to increase your water changes. You even admitted that I was right about the platy being messy, so why the thin skin?

So your reply to my first post is... "parameters ? so few water changes ?!! " without having a clue about anything else other than number of fish and tank size. Not a thin skin, just no time for pendants really... I was posting story not a "please help me stock my tank and look after my fish" thread.

Well if you're going to come to a forum filled with fish lovers and say "look at my wonderful tank! It's this small and has too many fish and a dangerous mix of species and I don't do enough water changes," expect to be gently guided towards better fishkeeping practices

"dangerous mix of species and I don't do enough water changes" you are funny for sure...

I think a blog with comments disabled may be a better idea.

Hello Scorchio ! Welcome to Fishlore!

It's good to know that your platy fry is doing well with your betta! I bet your betta has a good personality!

Happy Fishkeeping!
Man, one can't delete threads here so I had to edit accordingly....

The Betta really isn't fussed with them I have to say, almost like when it realises they are other fish it isn't bothered... the shrimp on the other hand !!

Yeah, they are funny lil fish I have to say... so curious it is insane, whenever I move stuff around or add something it is there checking it out. When I floated a bag of shrimp in the tank it was trying everything possible to get into it !

HAHAHA! They sure are very curious about things... Do you plan to rehome the platys or sell them?

I am posting on a now dead thread but hey stranger things have happened...

Worst case with the platies will just take em to the LFS (I have a few HUGE ones near me... ) hopefully they will take em... next time I am there I will ask and see what the story is. I will need to get rid of the fry anyway so will get their opinion on that as well.
