Did u move ur old filter media over to the new tank? And u did have a cycle going because ammonia was showing up before. As long as u didnt get rid of the old filter u should still be on the right track. Just keep checking ammonia, it might take a minute to register since its a bigger tank and u pretty much did a huge water change.
so I got some crushed coral last week for my 20 gallon from LFS and added to a mesh bag hanging below HOB filter so water is running over it. I was able to raise my pH slowly over few days from 6.6 to 7.0. I did that because for 7 weeks cycling with fish and still no nitrites :/. forum folks said pH pf 6.6 can take forever to cycle. plus I have nerite snails who I am sure appreciate harder water to lol. Ammonia was at 0.25ppm. Kh=3 and Gh=4. Took a leap of faith and poured a whole bottle of tetra safe start + (the one that treats for up to 40 gallon and recommended by everyone in this forum) in the tank. will not do any water changes for 2 weeks and just observe fish. in 2 weeks I will test water and see what's going on. hopefully I will cycle
