Plants With Goldfish

I'm really torn on whether to put goldfish in my pond or something else. I have visions of beautiful plants around the edges but then I have visions of the fish eating those plants. Are there any plants that won't be eaten?

I'm looking at native plants:
Lizards tail
Water lilies - haven't decided, I heard they can take over ponds
Iris
Cattail - read these can also take over ponds
Duckweed (if necessary for the goldfish)
Rush
Thanks.

I had a pond full of plants with my goldies. I had parrots feather, water lettuce hornwort and all kinds of bog plants in floating planters. At first they nibbled at the water lettuce roots but then I learned if I gave them a handful of duckweed they would let it go! My pond was literally coated in water lettuce and other plants until it got to cold for them. My water lily didn't do to well thanks to the nutrients hogging water lettuce!
