HI I have a 20 gallon bow front tank which I use as a biotope. I have all the usual plants like val cabumba sword plant. And I kind of want something quite exciting like that came out of the water. What plants would you recommend. I would rather not use fertilisers and the tank is quite low lit. And my fish don’t usually try destroy plants

I'm not quite sure- mangroves make interesting additions. Google aquarium mangrove pictures and see if you like how it looks. Good luck!

I don't think mangrove is a SA freshwater plant.
It’s mostly used as a saltwater or brackish water shrub.

If you want SA plants, do some vals, sword plants, cabomba and dwarf sag. You can also do a bunch of driftwood to give it that blackwater look.

As I mentioned earlier I already have vals swords and cabomba. Dwarf sag is more of a carpet plant, but is a cool idea I will look out for it. Is there any cool sa floating plants out there.

I was thinking maybe Brazilian penny wort and water lettuce or amazon frogbit. Does any one know about the care levels.

They’re easy plants. I’ve never had luck with pennywort, I have a few stems in my tank that aren’t growing or dying. They’re just there. I also have frogbit. pretty simple plant, just don't have too much surface agitation. I would do dwarf water lettuce instead, regular water lettuce grows way too big for a 20 gal. and it’s block all the lighg for the bottom plants.
