you Could try something like a melon sword or some crypts. Also dwarf water lily or some floating plants like frogbit or salvinia would be great for shrimp and tetras.

Also if you have a decent school of tetras consider upgrading to a larger aquarium.

I have a semi-powerful LED that I've has since I bought the tank aground 7 years back. The micro sword loves it and so does algae! My light has a tendency to be covered in the stuff. I sorta just let everything grow on its own, as I've never had any issues with plants. I can't tell water quality here, as i need to pick up new testing stuff. last i checked i had good water quality but semi-bad nitrates. I've thought about getting frogbit or duckweed, but I'm not sure about the floating look yet. would the java/marimo moss outcompete the micro sword? and how about regular amazon swords or java ferns?
