MTS is really bad these days.

anyways…

My new 40 gal goldie tank is here. I’m figuring out the scape right now. This is what I’m working with.

I am doing a pool filter sand substrate (using the mature sand from my 29 gal). The gravel is just for accenting around the terra cotta pots (and don’t worry, it’s definitely above goldfish swallowing size).

Right now I’m trying to figure out which plants should go in which pots. I’m gonna do lotus or waterlilies, vals and large red crypts in the medium-large sized pots. I might put some moss or a small bushy plant like rotala in the little pots. I just don’t know which side I want the vals on and which side I want the lilies/lotus on. What do y’all think?

Eeeeee!!! I’m so excited!!! (I miss my fancy goldie tank so bad.)

Sounds cool, I would say only 2 fancy goldies in 40gal, no comets or shubiniknins to fast and large

Yeah, I have a little red cap oranda in a 29. He is over 3.5” now and about ready for an upgrade. I will likely get him a buddy as well (he’s a social guy).

For the scape, this is what I have thunk of so far. Should I move stuff around? I’m not sure if the placement of the smaller plants is awkward or not. (excuse my terrible digital art skills).

This is another possibility as well.

I leaning that way as well, but I’m still not sure about the smaller plant placement. I have crypts, rotala, bacopa and anubias to work with in the little pots. I’m not sure what should go where. The cryptocorynes are very big.

Perhaps plant it as a mid to background plant?

In option 1 I like the colour variation in the small pots red and green

This is the tank! I am very pleased. I am getting new lighting today as well.

I decided against the water lilies, but I’m still thinking I’d like more plants up top. Perhaps water hyacinths?

Nice! I've been suppressing my desire for a goldie tank and this isn't helping!

They are very irresistible. I never tire of their chubby little faces greeting me every time I walk in my room. Goldfish I definitely the most social fish I know of. When they are comfortable with you, they act like little hams and beg for attention all the time, lol.
