Plant Only Tank - Need To Cycle?

I'm planning on having a tank exclusively for growing out plants. Clearly I'm going to need a light, and I know there needs to be circulation so that nutrients can disperse properly, but does the tank need to be cycled? Can I just fill the tank with water, use Prime, get some circulation and I'm good to go?

The only thing I can think of is that plants can benefit from having nitrates in the water, but I figure I can just dose nitrogen.

I’ve never cycled a tank before adding plants, but I’ve never had good growth during the cycle.

Could always use water from your water changes in your fish-filled tanks to fill the plant-only tank. Are you going to use CO2?

No you don't need to cycle the tank. But you will need to add ferts. You can add a sponge filter, heater and a good plant light and it’ll be fine.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm not positive on co2 yet, but probably will be going that route. I don't think I need a heater because I live in Florida and this house is 70-75 all year round, and that's fine for the plants I'm considering growing. I'll look into it further to see what ferts I'm going to need.
