    Hi all,

Saw this plant at the LFS listed as Wisteria. Looks a lot different to the wisteria/water sprite I'm familiar with.

Is it just a different species of plant in the same Genus as the more common wisteria and therefore lumped under that generic common name?

    Cheers,

It looks like a water wisteria (hygrophila difformis) grown emersed. Water sprite (Ceratopteris thalictroides) which may look similar is a totally different plant and is a kind of fern.

Once submersed it will grow pinnate leaves depending on the light intensity and water temperature.

Thanks! Just looked at Hygrophila difformis and that's the normal water wisteria I'm familiar with, this one must just look different because it was grown emersed as you said. The one I had previously must of been grown immersed.

I've seen people use water wisteria and water sprite interchangeably, so good to know it's a different species
