Does anyone know what species of plant this is? It came with my guppy grass today. I'm going to plant it and see what happens anyway, but I'm just curious what it is.
It's probably going to be tough to tell until it gets bigger.
I have plenty of these plants floating in my 55 gallon, their common name is star leaf. I initially thought these were crypts, but as they grew they looked quite different. I had some grow 1 1/2 feet tall!
They are very easy to propagate, and even a leaf will start to root when it falls off. When these plants grow big (which they do really quickly) they grow roots throughout their stem, and when this plant is cut it can form daughter plants. Star leaf plants, according to my experience, are great homes for microbes like flatworms and daphnia.
