Hi. I can't find any of my 4 new shrimp for several days. I just realized my plant fertilizer (thrive c) has copper in it. Would this kill them even if dosed properly?
Darn, I just spent $25 on a 17 oz bottle of thrive c. It doesn't seem to be affecting the snails tho.Maybe switch to Thrive-S, specifically formulated for shrimp tanks and less nitrogen too. A small amount of copper is ok, as even shrimp and other inverts use it for their bodies, but there is definitely a level you can reach that would be toxic. Pretty sure most of not all ferts contain trace amount of copper, so the amount in water ferts are not enough to be toxic.
Honestly it's not a biggie, there shouldn't be too much copper in these fertilizers. There might be another reason for your shrimp issues? They will hide though especially with fish in the tank. They are lowest on the food chain and know it!Darn, I just spent $25 on a 17 oz bottle of thrive c. It doesn't seem to be affecting the snails tho.
Maybe I won't buy any shrimp for a while. Of course it will take ages to get through my bottle so I might have to wait a long while!
