Plant fertilizer killing shrimp

Hi. I can't find any of my 4 new shrimp for several days. I just realized my plant fertilizer (thrive c) has copper in it. Would this kill them even if dosed properly?

Copper kills inverts.

Maybe switch to Thrive-S, specifically formulated for shrimp tanks and less nitrogen too. A small amount of copper is ok, as even shrimp and other inverts use it for their bodies, but there is definitely a level you can reach that would be toxic. Pretty sure most of not all ferts contain trace amount of copper, so the amount in water ferts are not enough to be toxic.

Darn, I just spent $25 on a 17 oz bottle of thrive c. It doesn't seem to be affecting the snails tho.
Maybe I won't buy any shrimp for a while. Of course it will take ages to get through my bottle so I might have to wait a long while!

Thrive is fine with shrimp. As said above, shrimp need some degree of copper in order to live. Its elemental copper that is incredibly dangerous. Or the levels of copper found in some medications. Even shrimp foods tend to have copper - these are in trace amounts so not toxic.

For me, shrimp have always hidden more initially and they are very good at it. Especially if you have fish in there. Eventually they gain confidence. Are there many hiding places?

Honestly it's not a biggie, there shouldn't be too much copper in these fertilizers. There might be another reason for your shrimp issues? They will hide though especially with fish in the tank. They are lowest on the food chain and know it!

Well...Just me panicking apparently. I saw two of the shrimp last night.
The shrimp are in a tank with fish and many places to hide. I'll just assume the other 2 are fine.
I'm glad to hear thrive c is safe with shrimp.Plus, my shrimp are fine but the assassin snail I put in my tank the day before is definitely dead.
