Plant Beginner. Surface Plant For Guppy Fry

HI everyone, I have a 20 gallon tank with some guppies and swordtail . A few amazon swords and other plants in the gravel. I have 4 artificial floating bushes for guppy fry. First batch of fry, one survived in the bushes until someone got it 2 weeks in

I am far from an expert so looking for easy care but an appropriate top floating plant to give the fry some hiding places. I think the artificial bushes have too many gaps in them.

One more note I have a second 20 gallon tank with two goldfish. So if it does grow I can always place some in that tank for a snack lol

Hornwart and duckweed, never fails. Frogbit and water spangles also have dense roots that are perfect for fry but they may need higher lighting.

Can’t go wrong with a big ball of java moss

My platy fry seem to love limnophila sessiliflora (found it as an easier alternative to Cabomba). It very quickly grows to the surface and turns redish at the tops. They get quite dense as well if you trim them regularly and allow them to spread. They seem to like eating bits of it too.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Looks like I moved a bit too slow lol. Mom dropped guppies and I was able to recover 11 from the cover at the top of the tank and put them into a breeding box and they are doing well. With that being said since this is a 20 gallon tank looks like more cover is not a good solution as I think I need mother nature to keep the population under control
