Hey. I need help to know what's happening .. I have lost a male super delta, a female spade tail, a male double tail, a female dumbo, and now it looks like I'm going to lose my plakat . Just now I have transferred him from his original tank he shares with my other female spade tail to a much larger tank ..

Earlier he was showing much signs as in his scales are rising and the underneath of his stomach looks very white now. I notice he was not eating as much for the last 2 days but at that time I only assume I was feeding him too much. This afternoon I got him and I saw he was laying sideways like in a lifeless position so I transferred him to a new tank added treated water to the tank and now I don't know what to do .. PLEASE HELP ME ..

Should I change the wole water in my spliter tank that my Spade tail female is in too ?? I lost about 7 betta fishes to a disease I know nothing about .. All I can say is that they all stop eating then they start to lose their colour and get real low on energy in the tank and later they start breathing very hard which is more signs ..
I hate losing my betta fishes.

Do the tanks have filters? What are the parameters? How long have you had them?

These are all signs of extremely poor water quality. Your profile says you don't know the nitrogen cycle. The ammonia builds up from the fish waste and kills the fish. This is likely what has happened to your previous fish. Please don't attempt to breed or buy any more fish until your tanks are cycled and you have researched some more.

I honestly don't know what's the right answer. Probably treating them at the very first sign of illness instead of waiting for it to worsen (unfortunately for mine the first sign was inappetence but she was already pineconing).

I think full water changes can shock their systems and stress them too much so maybe doing partial changes daily to help keep things clean without changing it too much?

It's pretty devastating. I hope someone with more knowledge chimes in!

I do water changes every week and have aged water that I have treated with Prime and Aquarium Salt .. n addition I also use the indian almond leaves to help condition the water . What I'm not understanding is that I have done partial water changes, checked the temperature of the water, clean out any waste, and excessive amount of uneaten food and I do this all the time to all of my bettas tanks ..
I'm not sure if its because I transferred him to a smaller tank after he was done with raising all of the betta fry ( he ate all the fry on day 2) or if he is actually stunned by being in a smaller tank. Also he wasn't as happy being in a larger tank that was filtered, had a low nitrate, ammonia level and treated water.
I hace had him for 2 months now and frankly he was the last plakat in the pet store .. I don't know what's going on cause, up until 3 days ago he has been lile this bit now its getting worst. I can see the white area on his stomach underneath is where his scales are raised. I have put him in a smaller separate tank that is 12 x 4 and placed the water just below 4 inches to make it easier for him to breathe .. I have also treated this new tank water with methylene blue.

Well a guy on one of my threads told me that if I'm not doing partial water changes and cleaning out their waste and other waste that the betta will get sick and especially if their isn't a filter present . But as I said all my bettas go through water changes and partial water changes .. Especially if I am alarm of the sickness. I change my water once a month and do partial water changes 2x a week .. I can only assume its because the electricity where I am keeps going out is why he is like that.

ok but what are the exact parameters? is this tank hes in filtered? do you add salt to the tank directly every time? salt doesn't evaporate out so if you keep dosing the tank it just builds up. its also not really good for freshwater fish in the long term.

Oh yeah, temperature fluctuations can definitely cause them stress and sickness! I hope your power situation gets straightened out. And it sounds like you are keeping their tanks clean then so that's good!

Today my Plakat Betta is still alive but he's really not doing any better. I'm currently going to visit the vet today to have him give me a better solution. He is now laying down vertically which is never a good sign.

you need to quarantine that fish immediately.
the water conditions must have been terrible, and the fish is bloated/sbd
use aquarium or epsom salt in a CLEAN quarantine tank, no decorations or animals.

Well guys, she didn’t make it. I went to check on her before bed, about an hour or so after I made this post and took the picture of her and she was laying lifeless on the substrate. RichTino, I hope your boy gets better. I’ve come to accept that losing fish sometimes is part of this hobby but it never gets any easier
I lost my guy on Saturday afternoon .. Dropzy was the cause I carried him to the vet and he told me the only thing I can do is to get him to eat something which was unsuccessful. He died that afternoon.

no unfortunately he passed away on Saturday afternoon

he died and it was a case of dropzy .. I carried him to the vet and did everything that the vet could not gave told me anything else to do but to ensure he eats which was not happening with him... My tank was never filthy and understand that things like this do happen unknowingly.

I'm so sorry. It really sucks to lose our fish friends. I didn't even know that fish vets existed.
