Ping pong ball?

What is the idea of a ping pong ball in a tank? What do the fish do with it?
Has anyone used a ping pong ball? Flowingfins Aquaphobia I know you both have bettas

I have used a ping pong ball! They're supposed to be something for your betta to play with and alleviate boredom. My first attempt to offer some enrichment to a betta ended in failure because the betta was terrified of it. The second wasn't terribly successful I think because the distance between the water surface and the lid was too short to allow the ball to move freely. It generated some small interest but not enough to warrant leaving it in. I've found that each betta is an individual though so yours may like it! I've always thought that the ball would be more interesting if it had a tiny amount of weight in it, just enough to give it neutral buoyancy, then it would be at the betta's level instead of hanging overhead and then he could really play with it!

I've actually seen something similar on ebay, though it's not in the shape of a ball. I should have saved the link. Hang on and I'll see if I can find it again...

Welp, I searched ebay high and low and haven't found it yet! I fell across it by accident the first time so I'll keep at it and hopefully trip over it again

They're good to give your betta a little toy to play with! I had two ping pong balls in both of my tanks but my betta boys are pretty lazy and didn't want to play with it lol. They do really like the floating log though a lot more! But yeah, I've seen plenty of bettas enjoy ping pong balls since they'll move them around the tank. It's good for stimulation.
