Picky Betta???

So I have a betta (Nox) that insists on eating nothing except brine shrimp.... I’ve tried the extra tiny pellets that my other betta goes crazy for and he just spits them out. And don’t get me started on the blood worms. The african dwarfs go crazy for them and my mollies too but every time I even bring them near Nox I swear I hear him making a gagging sound in there is it okay for him to only eat brine? Should I throw some peas in there now and then? He only just slightly pecks at them anyway. HELP!!

Have you tried frozen bloodworms or live blackworms? Bettas are carnivores and brine shrimp generally have very little nutrients.

HI'm eating brine shrimp isn't healthy long term as it still lacks other essential nutrients found in other foods to maintain a healthy fish. Peas are also useless for bettas in terms of nutrition because they can't digest plant matter so it just passes through their system.

You can add Vitachem or Seachem Nourish, which are vitamin supplements, to his brine shrimp as a temporary solution. I suggest you try soaking his other foods in garlic extract which is an appetite stimulant and flavour enhancer to entice him to eat. If those don't work then you may have to try other brands of pellets to see if he'll eat them. The last solution is looking into live foods which trigger a fish's instinct to eat with their movements.

I’ve tried frozen blood worms, I haven’t tried giving him love food yet. Are live blackworms very small?

Have you ever tried making diy garlic juice? I’ve been seeing that online but not much instruction on how to do it. Will go get different pellets, this Bougee fish is something else ‍♀️

I haven't done the diy method before because I have a large bottle of Garlic Guard. I heard that you can cut a garlic clove open and roll the pellets in the flesh to soak the juices. I'll actually test it out tonight and see how it goes.

Well my betta ate it. He didn't seem to have a difference in behavior as to how I normally feed him. I'll try feeding it to my other male betta tomorrow and see what happens again.
