Picky betta won’t eat daphnia even with garlic

MsKEC

Hi folks. So my betta chino still has a little bit of bloat. I’ve tried getting him to eat freeze dried daphnia but he has refused multiple times. I just got Lent Marine Garlic Xtreme today and tried two drops on some daphnia in a small bowl then putting it in the tank. The little stinker completely ignored it. Any other ways to help with bloat?

I would ideally use frozen daphnia instead of freeze-dried, but i do know several of my bettas had little to no interest in daphnia, period. Suppose you can try a pea or an epsom salt dip. I would probably try the pea first.

Live daphnia would be best if you can get it. Never known a fish not to eat that!

Thanks y’all for the help. I was unable to find fresh or frozen daphnia in my area so that’s why I tried freeze dried. I did test the garlic on his normal pellets and he loved it so it’s not the garlic.

I’ll try the pea and report back. ☺️

Chino ate the pea! He ate two bites but I put garlic on it to be safe.

Hello folks. I wanted to update you on Chino. He definitely ate the pea, but I did not notice a difference in his bloat. I bought some Seachem paraguard and did a one hour dip in a bucket and… the bloat is finally gone! Also he’s been very active and his color is more vibrant.
