Picking Female Guppy By Their Tails

Is there a way to tell which female guppies are likely to throw nice long tailed males? I have seen some with tails longer at the top of the tail then at the bottom, and some with slightly larger tails then the others. Trying to pick a nice girl to encourage the tail in my longer tailed boys.

Any way to predict what sort of tails they might throw without knowing their parentage?

Thank you guys! Appreciate the bumping muchly.

Still wondering about this tail thing as I have read tons on male selection but all it seems to say about girls is to pick big ones with thick tails so they will be able to support big tail fins.

I went ahead and bought six girls for my boys and they are in the quarantine now. Went for large tails and one of the ones that is bigger at the top, figured they are the best chance and also they were very pretty. Also half the fun with babies is the gamble. My 55 gallon is soon to have nine guppies once quarantine is over. Think the three guys know there are girls in the tank next to them, they are looking very rowdy and are hanging out on the side that's beside the new girls.

Do you have any pictures? I'm still trying to get the hang of identifying males and females

Luckily with guppies its pretty easy to identify genders once you see a bunch. I was very unsure of the genders myself until I started window shopping at the fish stores a lot.

I did get some pictures I added two links of both as I forget which one gives a better picture.
The first is a yellow girl note her bottom fin. Its like a fan.
The second is a yellow male note his bottom fin is pointed.

Thanks! That's kind of what I was thinking. Just wanted to make sure I was looking at the right thing.

Indeed! Trying to determine what exactly they are talking about when just reading things is pretty hard. Not to mention going to the store to bone up on gender identity and looking in the 'girl' tank and seeing boys haha now they are just trying to make it hard on us.

Ha, exactly. The store here has them all labeled male guppy, and I know that can't be right.
