30 Gallon Tank Picked Up Free Goldfish

So we went and picked up 6 free goldfish. The people didn't want them anymore. Right now the goldies are in my largest open tank, a 30 gal. I don't think they mind too much, when we picked them up they were in a 5gal bucket. They will very soon go in their own pond, seems a couple are about 6in long. Now, I was never a giant fan on goldfish, so a little help is needed. What kind are these goldfish? Thanks in advance!

the pictures are a bit dark so it is hard to really see them well. They appear to all be common (or comet) goldfish - at least the ones in the last picture are...

Common and comet goldfish are basically the same thing - depending on who you talk to. The basic difference is that the Comet goldfish are supposed to be a bit slimmer with longer tails and fins. That description actually fits male common as well as comet goldfish. The females have shorter more rounded fins and stockier bodies.
Commons and comets can grow up to 16 inches in length (or more). They are very strong swimmers (mine love swimming against the current when I add water to the pond).

There's one with long fins, but the rest have rounded fins, and they all have stocky bodies.

It is a possibility, then, that you have one male (long fins) and the rest females. Can't say for sure without clearer pictures of them though. Either way, they are common/comet goldfish.
Congratulations on your rescue!

Thanks! The one with long fins has a bad case of fungus that I started treating. I didn't see any signs of fungus on the others, but I'm treating them for it too, because they were all together. They were in a pond, I think. And the people wanted to get rid of them. So they gave them to my boyfriend's neighbor in the 5gal bucket. Then she called my boyfriend. So now their ours. We went to our local pet store and I told the one of the workers about them, and she told me that when we get our pond done for them, she'd like to give us two more. She said that they were too big for her tank.

Sorry about the fungus - hopefully your fishies will pull through.

How big of a pond are you planning? (I wish I had room to make a much bigger pond!)

It's a rental house we will be putting it at, so not entirely sure yet. We are hoping for a 200gal moveable pond. But at the worst, we will be buying a 2ft deep kiddy pool for the guys.
