Philodendron?

HI plant people.

I'd like to set my Philodendron on the hood of the tank and let the roots dangle in the tank.

I know it's not an aquatic plant. Just the roots would be in the water.

What do you think?

It will draw waste from the tank.
I know several folks who grow it in their filters.

The roots don't clog their filters?

I thought perhaps the roots would make a cool looking jungle like thing hanging in the tank.
Unless they are toxic to fish or snails?

My Ramshorn snail likes to eat plants.

Reports are, you have to keep it trimmed away from the impeller, other than that, let it grow!

by roots do you mean the vine parts that hang down?

The part that's usually in the soil. Roots

I've had them grow very well in wine and decorative bottles with no soil, just water.

Sooooo, the leaves and all would be in the tank or outside the tank. I have one in a hanging basket and I'm not sure I understand.

Jaysee, I think Lucy wants to have the roots hanging in the tank right below the water surface with the plant cascading down the outside of the tank.

All the leaves would be on the lid or hanging on over the side.
The roots would be in the water.

This isn't mine but here's a picture:

Edit:
Yes, James! Thanks

Hmmm.....I wouldn't have to water it if I did that......

LOL. Nope, you wouldn't.

I heard the leaves are poisonous to cats,
Not sure about aquatic life.

They were real popular with betta vases for a while.

The Bamboo picture is 3 months old. It has grown nearly 2 foot taller since that picture was taken.
