PH Question (API Freshwater Master Kit)

This is my first time using the API Freshwater Master Test Kit. I wanted to see what the PH was before adding fish food or ammonia during my fishless cycling. It turned out to be 7.6 pH, so I also tested the high PH and it looked to be about 8.2. I think this is too high for African dwarf frogs. Should I look into buying Indian almond leaves? Or will the PH lower eventually after completing the cycling process from adding ammonia?

Don't try and lower ph, it's fine where its at. ADF are very hardy and will do good in that ph. Stability is more important than tracking down a certain number. Do you know your kh? What about gh?

Oh, okay. Thank you! Would a betta also be alright in that range? I’m not sure what my kh and gh is. Also, I was curious: does adding tap water conditioner do anything to the pH?

Yes a betta would be fine. No, water conditioner shouldn't mess with ph.
