10 Gallon Tank Ph is reading 7.4 through 7.8 in a tank I'm cycling. I have well water from a natural spring and its about the same.

I plan on using this tank for about 8 cpds. Is that too high for them? It is currently empty and beginning a cycle. Should I get some driftwood or leaves to lower it? Or would it simply worsen things by swinging back up every time I do a water change?

In most cases a stable PH is more important than a specific number so I wouldn't try changing it.

That's what I thought. I was just shocked that I ended up having to use the high range tester so I panicked a bit.

I breed and raise CPDs. My tap is 8.2
They do have a bit higher hatch and survival rate when I RODI and remineralize but beyond that I find no difference in life span, activity or health at my tap parameters.
