Petco 5 freshwater fish for $5 sale thru 3/7

Has anyone taken advantage of the ongoing or a past 5 fish for $5 at Petco sale? What kind of species do they offer at a buck a piece? I've tried doing Google searches but couldn't find much info except some from years or a decade plus ago that pretty much listed Tetra's. I believe it's up to each individual store to decide what fish go on sale so just curious what others may have got the last week or during past sales?

I know I could call the store but it's more fun asking the interweb lol. I'm gonna try and make it to my Petco tomorrow.

The pic in the local ad showed 2 Ember Tetra's and I think 2 long fin danios & a white skirt tetra but it said selection varies by store. Probably all just small species but the Ember Tetra's are $2.49 reg so a buck a piece would be awesome.

I have one Petco that's about 12min away and another that's about 17min sway the furthest one has a boring generic selection but the closest one has stuff I haven't seen at any other Petco/PetSmart but that you would expect at a local fish store including pygmy Corydoras, Ember Tetra's, ChilI Rasbora's, Golden Dwarf Barb's, Endlers Livebearers, Emerald Eye Rasbora's, Galaxy Rasbora's, Scarlet Badis, Pea Puffers, etc...I even saw a Flower Horn there and the aquatics manager told me if I don't see it just ask and she'll order it. The other Petco didn't have one of the species I mentioned.

Went to my local Petco awhile ago picked up 5 Ember Tetra's and 5 female guppies for $1ea.

If I can remember right they had Female guppies, White skirt tetra, Black skirt tetra, Black Neon Tetra (sold out) Red Eye Tetra, and Ember Tetra's as part of the 5 for $5 sale. They had more guppies I think were female as well but now I forget.

 

My local Petco is actually pretty decent, as chain stores go. They have an interesting selection of fishes that I haven's seen anywhere before, like Golden Wonder Killifishes. I think I'll go there tomorrow and if so, I'll see what else they have at 5 for $5 and post it here.

 

I think Long Finned Danios are part of the sale too. They also have bettas for 20% off.
I went to get some Ember Tetras. I go daily as I drive by on my way home from work lol. All they had was 3, so I bought them, and of course one died already.

 

That's awesome, sounds like the one closest to me. They have multiple killifish and bichr, loaches, etc....The PetSmart by me has an African leaf fish that was pretty cool. Too many fish out there and not enough tanks to keep them lol.

Sounds good, I'd appreciate that. It's interesting to see how Petco's stack up against each other. I know a lot of people knock the chain stores but the one by me is doing stuff right and it's 13min each way vs 35+ min each way for a LFS.

Oh yes I forgot the long fin danios were marked on sale too. Bummer! Of the 5 embers I got all 5 are doing well so far. They're tiny! I don't know how old but I wouldn't think they're more than a couple months at most. They did have about 15-20 but all were tiny.

I did lose a female Guppy already though. My water tests normal so I think it was just stressed...I'm not sure if they just got them in today or yesterday but most the female guppies were swimming right at the top. I splurged and got 16 fish today and only 1 female Guppy casualty so far. Knock on wood.
