I never get photos of store bettas! My PetCo has some really pretty ones though, some females that look like imbellis, 'king' bettas so big they can barely swim in their cups, white dragonscale plakats with red tails, etc. I'm gonna go over there to buy an emergency heater (I hate the cold season) so I'll hopefully get some pics of what they've got. Two PetCo pickups since I don't have any pics of store bettas atm:



Here's my late Moon. He was sold as a baby female, he grew up to be a delta tail male though! My mom plopped him into a 10 gal with 6 guppies before we left for a 3 month vacation, so he never grew into his true colors. He died because my mom also dropped in a paradise fish after I rehomed the guppies. The paradise stressed Moon out too much, giving him dropsy the same week he was introduced, giving my betta a long death. These pictures were taken in a 2.5 I used as a separation tank halfway through his life. I should have kept him in there, he looked the most beautiful then. In every other picture he had stress stripes.




Here's a baby boy I picked up exactly 73 days ago. He's upgraded from a 1 gallon to a 20 long. He sadly has ich, which is why I'm going to petco to buy him a heater. I'm gonna try the no meds method, I hate medicine for fish. You can see a bit of it on him in every pic but the first if you look hard enough. Wish me luck, this guy is beautiful and he deserves better than just me!

bigger than the other babies, labelled female. I think it might be male...? i've never seen a female with spots. any idea why all of their ventrals are curled towards their bodies?

I should have some betta pictures later today, my youngest brother is going to PetCo today for some items for his tank, which means betta browsing for me.

 

THAT HALFMOON KING MALE!!! AAARRRGGHH! My petco never has those but they do have some white and red dragon scale hmpks.

 

My PetCo has been super low on betta stock lately and I’ve been looking for a new HMPK. They didn’t have any but they had a double tail Plakat... He looked not that bad. Not sure if I wanted him though.

 

I never get pictures at petco, but here's a sample of the bettas they have. I bought this HMPK only a few days ago. I hate this white sand, it makes him look way more pale than colorful

Most recent o e I saw that I could not do without!

 

This is my black orchid crowntail boy Lazarus! I got him from Petsmart. Picture is him from this morning. His light is blue but in white light he shines more green and the light bits on his tail are white.

When I first got him his black lines and dots were super defined but now the white has kind of taken over a lot of his top fin lol

 

back with the mediocre petsmart bettas... these were the two best-looking imo

went to petco. they just got a new shipment of bettas in. they're shipped in these teeny tiny bags with hardly any water in them. idk how they survive transit. when I commented about it to the employee, she said "yeah, they originate from little puddles" screams.






angery pink boy doesn't like my phone. wonder if I can trade my current betta who has a bad case of tattered fins in for him hahaha





this pretty sad boi looks like he's given up on life I feel so bad for these guys. there was a little dumbo girl who was upside down with ammonia burns and a dead or dying king betta. sighs.
