My pet store find is my most favorite and cutest blue and red betta with red lipstick. I also have some bettas from overseas but none as adorable as mr.lips hehe (he is also my profile pic)

 

This was our late betta (veil) Henry. I still miss him.



Now we have this one (halfmoon) named Endymion.



And this one (twin tail) named Sephiroth. There's two pictures to show his change in color.

I found this stunner at the pet store today. I've long adored the black/silver bettas but never seen one in person. I'm so, so tempted to go back tomorrow and get him if he's still there. He may be the most beautiful betta I've ever seen, and honestly I feel like he's worth breaking my vow to "stop acquiring fish!"




This is my late Floki, my first betta in years, who was an impluse buy a couple years ago who got me back into fish. I spotted him at Walmart when I was buying something for my 1 gallon tank of ghost shrimp, and I grabbed him. Couldn't resist. I then bought a 5g, heater, etc, and started to care for him properly. He passed a couple months ago, I assume from stress - I moved and while I tried to do everything right and move him in the least stressful way possible, he never quite recovered from the ordeal.



This was FlokI after a year and a half with me...

 

Haha! The rattie is Calico Jack - he was a one-eyed pet store rescue. They gave him to me so I could get him vet care (a cagemate disagreed with him about something and took his eye out - poor dude). He's a little character! He could do with some friends, but I didn't want to bring home whoever took out his eye at the store, so we're waiting a bit.

I'm so very tempted by the gothic betta. I remember when I got Floki, I started researching betta care and betta info (because all I remembered from having bettas as a kid were the red and blue ones, which were lovely, but when I saw Floki's colors I realized they come in all sorts of patterns, colors, etc) - I saw a black betta on eBay and was enamored, but wasn't about to pay $40 then shipping when I was still learning the basics of fish (I mean, I'm still learning, but I have a better grasp on it now than I did then). I wonder how Gothic Betta would do in my 29 gallon community with minnows and cories... Everybody in there is white (or off-white, like my BN pleco) - he'd be an interesting contrast. As long as he doesn't kill everyone (but I do also have a spare 10 gallon that all my minnows just moved out of, so if he does seem aggressive...). I bought 8 fish in the past two days (cories and minnows to bring my little schools up to appropriate numbers) which is a lot for me, and I swore that was the end of it for a while. Then I saw this guy... He was pretty interactive, too, watching me, following me as I turned his cup, which I love (FlokI was like that). My current betta (Horik - I had a Vikings theme going at the time) will occasionally pop out to look at me, but spends most of his time hiding somewhere. He's pretty, but shy

Both are very beautiful. I'm sorry that you lost Floki. That black and silver one though.......wow. Where exactly is he at and how long would it take me to get there? Lol. Just kidding, but seriously he's pretty. I can see why you'd snatch him up.

I'm actually smack in the middle of NC, so (potentially) not too far from TN!

I went back to get the gothic betta but he was gone.

Then I went to my LFS to look for a longer net (the short one that came with the kit makes me stick my whole arm in the tank to net anything) and spotted the lady betta I mentioned in an earlier post that I saw a few days ago. Couldn't believe she was still there! She's very curious - I held her cup up so I could see her, and she stared at me, then looked at me with one eye, then the other, then head-on again. She's also quite pretty.

probably going to get a betta next week, so I did some more serious window shopping while looking at petsmart's plant selection and prices ((Ugh)). these are the only two that really caught my eye.

Dch48 I lovd that dumbo butterfly too!!! petsmart used to have some pretty dumbo butterfly plakats, but they haven't gotten anymore in lately the second betta looks like an import, wow. what a stunner. I love the last one's colours.

I went back to petco just a day later to get some plants and the little guy was indeed labelled as a "halfmoon double tail plakat male." not sure about the halfmoon part. y'all are gonna make me want to get him, he is soooo tiny he's hardly bigger than a quarter. but I want a dumbo grrrr. now I really understand mts







I think this "black orchid"'s colours and fins would really pop if he got into a good tank. I love it when bettas have dots or stripes on their fins.

Just picked up this little girl, any name ideas? I’m leaning towards Julia or Luna.

 

I finally went ahead and got this little guy today. it's only been a week since I last saw him and he's lost almost all his colour his body is pretty much completely grey and his red fins are super pale. he has some mega stress stripes. he was like this when I found him in the store. he's still active and looks healthy, just his colour is gone.

he's been sitting in this cup for over a month. the later photos show his progression. I didn't realize I took a photo of him when I made this thread a month ago. you can see how he's grown. he's still super tiny though. I think he may have been a petco baby betta and they switched labels once he got big enough.







i'm acclimating him right now. I hope he gets his colour back soon and is brighter than ever before!!

I named him prince sidon. continuing the legend of zelda theme for my aquatic pets

Here’s my crowntail Betta, Pluto. He’s nothing fancy, I just love the variety of colour on him! He’s now in a planted tank and loves it!

 

3 black Orchids at Petco. Usually this one is horrific with their selection of Bettas, but I was actually impressed for once. And tempted! I just can’t justify 20$ right now.

Petco koi betta. Stunning male!

Got this guy from petco. I have a soft spot for koi bettas so I couldn't resist! Unfortunately, he has ich so he's in my hospital/planted tank right now.

 

Found this guy at a PetSmart! He’s SOOOOOO pretty!!!! It took everything in me to not buy him! If only my tank wasn’t occupied.. >.<

Yeah, have to admit PetCo does usually have some amazing bettas. Saw a red one with a black face that I really wanted to take home....but I should keep at 5, especially aince wife wants a betta baby, probably because we got a bunch of molly and platy babies....
