Pet moray eel?!

HI my name is ofir and I'm new in this forum+ I don't speak english very well.
I bought a new fresh water moray eel (I know its brackish don't worry) and I saw a few videos and threads about petting a moray eel so I decided to try it out. He/she loves it! I think? Well hes not running away and he stays near to my hand and I washed my hand very good without soap before putting my hand to the aquarium ... So I want to ask you if its good from what I described...
Thank you!

Hello and Welcome to Fish Lore!

If you could tell us a bit more about your aquarium it would be great. Tank size, how long has it been set up? Is it cycled? Are you aware of the Aquarium Nitrogen Cycle which is crucial to fish keeping? See link below:

https://www.fishlore.com/aquariumfishforum/threads/nitrogen-cycle-a-newbies-friendly-guide.114096/

I am moving your thread to Odd Ball Fish section of the forum. You can locate your threads by clicking on Quick Links in the bar close to the top of the screen. In the drop down box, click on My Threads.

Thanks! I hope you enjoy the forum.

From what I understand, Freshwater moray's need a more brackish set up.
Also, your gonna need a bigger tank. At least 120 gallon.

Could you post your water parameters? One week is not very long to cycle a tank, unless you did a quick cycle using established media.

Welcome to Fishlore! I don't think Morays are very widely kept, but i'm sure there is an expert on here somewhere!

Dont worry its not a big moray eel
Btw I read about minimum size of the tank of thus specific specie and the minimum is 100 liter
I got brackish water (freshwater+marine salt)
Gymnothorax tile

Thank you everyone but... I don't know maybe I had a mistake in the word but what I meant is like to pet, to stroke like petting/stroking a dog in his back so I want to know if its good to do it but with a moray eel

I personally wouldn't think it would hurt him if you were very gentle and you're hands were clean. Look up the post entitled electric eel by @ dukeyboy. He has a pet electric eel that he pats and strokes. He is also a brand new member. His post is facinating. Alison
