I have my 29 gal aquarium in my family room. My mom and I love the fish\aquarium. Back on my mother's birthday, I had gotten her a GBR and platy, but the GBR recently died to the seemingly ever so popular disease where they just lose color and die. (I saw lots of other people had this happen on another thread) I really would to get her some more fish. My tank is stocked with:
1 Angelfish
4 platies
7 cories
1 danio...to be rehomed
1 Flying fox (was supposed to be SAE). To be rehomed...
2 killifish...a type of panchax.

I have an algae problem (because its not an SAE). I'm having problems finding Ottocincloses. My mother really hates the algae, but I don't want to scrape it all off, because when I do i'm sure I'll find the ottos. In a way I don't want ottos, because they are wild caught. I would rather have a BN pleco or something, but I think someone said they would get too large or something. I'd like your opinion, what fish should I get? An algae eater (if there are any that meet my requirements), or another type of fish. She likes neons because they have so much color.
I am open to suggestions! Thanks!!

Oh, BTW as you can tell, this is a tropical community aquarium!

A BN would work fine in a 29 gallon. The think you'd have to worry about is overcrowding the bottom of your tank, but you may be okay. BNs get to about 6 inches big. It's the common plecos that get 18 inches.

By over crowding do you mean too little space or too little hiding spots?

So, do you think I would be overcrowding? Would a couple neons fit in there?

Anybody else have any Neon-like fish they would like to recommend?

I think you would be okay with a BN and some cories on the bottom. I wouldn't get any more bottom fish than that, though.

As far as neons, your angel is likely to eat them, and cardinals too. I'm having the same dilemma in my tank. I have the neons, and I love them. But I want an angel... I think I may get one, and eventually if it eats the neons, so be it.

Aww...That's not cool . I'll have to think of some other nicely colored fish then. Atleast I can get the BN though! Thanks Meenu!

I assume the Glowlight is like the Zebra danios...A bit nippy?

I haven't had mine long enough to make a definitive decision on that, but from all the resources i've seen they are peaceful community fish.
