    Hey all,

I just want to say that I have a tank with one pea puffer and a bunch of texanus cambarellus and they seem to be the perfect match! The crayfish are always super wary of anything (even before the puffer was introduced) so they aren't really a good target for the puffer, on the other hand, the reproduce quite well (if an accident were to happen with the puffer), and they love to clean out snail shells.

From the puffer's point of view, he has the water column to himself, and he can make whatever mess he wants out of his food since it's going to get cleaned.

    Isn't that perfect?

Yea, I have 7 pea puffers in my 55 community tank. They get along with all the other fish except for the snails lol.

Really? For how long have you had them? What other fish do you have with them?

Male Betta + tiger barbs in small numbers + pea puffers... That sounds like a recipe for disaster !

Lol, I knew i would be judged. Ill try to take a video and post it. Ive been feeding them live foods and frozen foods only so their colors really pop, even under the ray2 lights. It was supposed to be a tiger barb only tank but an ich takeover ruined that lol.

Almost as long as the pea puffers.

Well I mean, I have a community betta, and I have a pea puffer with tank mates, so I know what it's like to live on the edge :)
But you have a really unsustainable stock!

Ok so it hasn't been too long then... I'd really be interested to know how things evolve when you've had them (flounders and puffers) for a year.

But the thing is it doesnt feel like living on the edge. If it did, I wouldnt feel so good. I ,like most of us, here love seeing our pets thrive. If my pets are uncomfortable, Im uncomfortable. I also do like to test the water and go against conventional wisdom to see what happens. If I feel any one of my pets arent doing well, I revert back to whats normal. Sure having two tigers barbs, a male betta, and several pea puffers isnt conventional, but its working for me.

I totally understand that. I am the same. But from what I read, it works fine when they're young and then it backfires as they grow older. So I feel obligated to advise against what you are doing.

Thank you for your concern, but I am quite happy the way my fish behaves contrary to what one may assume

Anything can change, I would be very wary of keeping them with other creatures.
