Pencilfish fry!!

Well, big surprise just came swimming out of my floating plants. Looks like my pencilfish got it on! I don't even know how many there are. There are only two adults (have an order in to LFS for more). Should I do anything to isolate them? I have T. labiosa, brass tetras, etc but the floating plants provide a lot of cover(about 50% of surface).

Probably not too many, the biggest danger to Pencilfish fry are their parents. Other fish generally aren't fast enough! What type of Pencilfish was it?

I believe beckfordi. Thanks, @chromedome52. They do seem to be zipping around just like their parents! That's part of why I love these guys - they can be almost motionless and then just shoot away.

I observed at least three and the one visible now is maybe a quarter inch or so? I am terrible at estimating length.

That is one of the species that is often bred accidentally. They are very colorful fish, and are quite popular. It's still pretty good to get fry surviving in a community tank, congrats!

It's funny because I had received one accidentally and liked it so much I picked up the only other one the LFS had...then as soon as I ordered more they spawned.
