I have :
9 Platy
10 Zebra Danios
3 Panda Corys (getting more)
I will be getting more fish in a week.
Tank size : 54G

Some times my Platy with chase the Danios a bit and give a "Boop" some times a Nip. I have another Female Platy that some times chase the other platy. My Danios some times chase each other. I had a Platy and a danio chase a Panda. This behavior is not continuous. It happens here and there and I notice it going on around feeding time. ALL these fish are new to each other as well, they only been living together for 3 days. Also my Male Platy are chasing the females but they still look too young to mate.
I'm most concerned for my Pandas cuz they are all innocent and little and just wanna tootle around and be pandas.
Also my Danios aren't schooling together... Do I need more of them?

My hope is to add :
1 BN Pleco
1 Blue- Spot Gourami
(Maybe) 2 Bolivian Ram
(Maybe) A group of Neons

If you have any better or other suggestions PLEASE comment and share!

Fish usually only school when they feel threatened. If its just bumping I wouldn't worry yet. Give them some time to settle in. If you start noticing nipped fins then you will have to do something other wise I wouldn't worry too much.

One Zebra Danio was dying and a Platy finished the job -.- I think I may have an aggressive redwag.

I know but this one fish I've been having to keep an eye on for a while now. I've lost 3 danios now since I put them in there. I don't know if it's from sickness, stress of new home, or being bullied.

With new fish its hard to tell if they are good quality or of bad stock. I think the quality of fish has been going down hill.

I can agree from what several other have said as well. Seen a good amount of people on here say same thing. I remember when I got my neons, the guy gave me 3 extra in case some died and sure enough I lost 4 of them. Sucks for them though cuz if they are trying to make a pecking order they having to do it all over again when the new fish arrive.

What temperature is your tank? As danios usually don't like anything warmer than 75f (24c) however I have heard old people having success up to 26c. It could be that you have purchased less than 100% healthy fish (seems to be a common problem particularly with chain stores) which were probably be kept at quite a low temperature by normal standards and the may not be tollarting the temperature of the new tank.

The new additions your planning should do well with what you already have.

Just on a side note if you are after a fish that schools more tightly and often I have found pristella tetra to be good.

74 Degrees. Danios can live UP to 75. With all the types of fish I have and am getting 73-4 is the balance for them to all be happy. That fish looks nice however it looks like it needs warmer water.

hmm your temp should be fine for the danio's. Yeah the Pristellas's would want more around 78, I keep mine at 80.

Hopefully you have better luck the the new additions.
