Pearlscale goldfish in a 20?

I have an empty 20 set up and cycled, if I decided to put a pearlscale goldfish in the tank could I put anything in there with it?

 

Too small for a goldfish anyways.

 

I've read a lot of conflicting information on the topic. I think that with big regular water changes, which I do anyways, it's fine to keep him there? He's small right now, only about 2"
I know that goldfish are very social and I just wanted to provide him with tankmates to play with.

Its more of a size/space issue than bioload.

 

Do you mean 20 gallons or 20 litres?

20 litres is way too small for goldfish, would be suitable for shrimps or smaller fish.
20 gallons is alright as a starter/grow out tank, but if you want to introduce other goldfish now it won't be the best size. Although you'll have to upgrade in the future once your goldfish grows. The bigger the tank, the more stable and better it'll be for your goldfish and you.

No, no mater what. Even if the fish is 1 centimetre, it will get big, I suggest 30 gallons for goldfish at least.

 

Just for the record pearlscale goldfish can get up to 8" long (plus they get quite deep too). You should invest in a bigger tank down the road.
