Pearl Gournami with patch on top

This is my first time posting but I discovered the forum about a week ago and really wish I could have found you guys sooner! I have been treating my tank for ick by increasing the water temperture to 86 and since last night I've noticed my Pearl Gournami has a patch on his skin. Now when I got home from work I've noticed the patch is bigger. I'm posting a picture and hopefully someone can help me! Thanks so much!

Wow. Rarely seen that sort of stuff on a fish. It looks like a fungus. Fleshrot perhaps. Daily waterchanges and Stress Coat should take care of it. You could also add some Primafix or Melafix to the water. Not exactly sure which one you need but I'm sure another member will clarify.

Is the cycle on your tank complete?

Thanks for your reply! Added some Melafix and did a water change. Did another water test before the water change, ph 7.2 nitrate 0 and nitrate 40. Not sure if those numbers means the tank has cycled. I've had the tank since 11/1/11 and added the fish two weeks later, not all at the same time.

 

Ooh.. you might want to consider columnaris- it is triggered by stress and an increase in temperature, and if Ich and the heat treatment was the trigger this wouldn't be the first case- last case I saw the combo wiped out 75% of her stock.

Melafix is fine for many bacterial infections, but it's useless against columnaris- Maracyn II, Tank Buddies Fungal Clear tabs, or kanafix would be effective.

 

I don't notice any fuzzy white stuff on the fish but the patch does look like if the skin is peeling. I'm going to use Maracyn and move him to the QT. Thanks for the info!
