Young male. He's showing his "male features" earlier than my other boy.
ImageUploadedByFish Lore Aquarium Fish Forum1438202257.187731.jpg I wanted better pictures but they were both zooming across my tank! I guess they like the new aquascaping I did haha.

I just got a male pearl gourami today for my 90 gallon tank. He's still kinda stressed, so his colors are a little washed out, but here he is.

image.jpg

And out of the bag, hiding under some plants.

image.jpg

He was pretty skittish and seemed a little overwhelmed by the size of the tank and the activity of the congo tetras, so I got him a mate. (The water isn't dirty, just really dark.)

This is “Big Poppa” and he is absolutely stunning!

I started out with 3 pearl gourami, juveniles. One ended up very skinny and sickly looking and then died, leaving the other two (both females after a few months) alone. So, I went out and bought them a male counterpart, and he’s so great! One follows him constantly (other in picture; 3rd one in picture is actually a reflection of the female) and the other one does occasionally but prefers hiding in their “lair”.

So fun!

This is "Snoop". Not sure yet whether it's a boy or girl. I think this is their "good" side, the tail spot on the other side isn't as prominent. Snoop knows.

My girls, Sparkles and Starlight, always swimming together as a team. I often find them bumping their ventral fin feelers, like they're gossiping together

This is Opal from my planted 75g.
He likes to point at me with his feelers when I'm near the tank surely suggesting that I feed him.
Last big water change he was closer to the output of my refill hose than I liked and I was able to just cradle him in my hand and gently move him to the other side of the tank without so much as a flip of his tail or flop from him.

lol WetRootsNH I got my first Gourami, a pearl and named him Opal as well
It was his color scheme when I first picked him up that made me name him that

Pearls are the most beautiful gourami imo. Just stunning. Pity my male is a jerk.

A couple new additions. . . A male and female Pearl. I attempted to get a picture of the female too, but they’re both very active exploring their new home.

Really hard to get a picture of her, but here’s my new Pearl! She seems pretty healthy and we’re nearing the end of QT, so I’m gearing up to get her a couple of friends - my goal is to have a shoal of three females.

Few pictures with my pearls, it is so hard taking a decent picture of these little guys, I’ve had many fishes since I am in the hobby but I just love the pearl gouramis
