Peacock eel injured

Looks like one of my tiger barbs nipped at my Peacock eel and he is just laying there now. Is there anything anyone can suggest? I put him in my "hospital tank" (it's actually a little guppy breeding tank that floats in my tank) for now and he seems to be swimming around a bit more trying to get out the top. Thanks for any advice.

tiger barbs are not good fish for a peacock eels,as you found out...
can you take pics?
is there much damage?
what type of peacock eel is it?
tank size?
water tests?
anymore info will help.

for now id do water changes and keep the water clean.

Can you give us a bit more info? Tank size? How many tiger barbs?

Do you have a whole separate tank for him? He's probably very stressed in the floating container.

Macrognathus siamesis. It is a small nip mark near his gill. If I could get him to calm down I would definitely take a pic. I'm going to have to get rid of the barbs.

Tank is 150 gal

id put him in a larger tank/tub (or the barbs) since a tiny guppy thing might stress him more.
is the nip big or small?,if its tiny I should heal by itself but if its bigger it might need care.

I don't have a a separate tank yet, it's on my list of things to get. 18 barbs, I fed the peacocks blood worms and the barbs went nuts, which is stupidity on my part.

is blood worms all you feed the eel?

if you don't have a tank a cheap tub will do if you have spare heaters, ect.

So far, he is a juvenile. I have only had him a week and this was the first time blood worms were even in the tank

That actually sounds like a great setup, and I wouldn't expect issues from 18 barbs in a 150 gal. When the peacock eel is bigger, I would expect it to work out well. Can you divide the tank for a few months?

Unfortunately he does over night in the hospital tank I set up for him in a plastic bin, but my other Peacock seems to be doing fine. I may give it some time and not feed them blood worms anymore, my barbs are typically not aggressive toward the other fish, but when they got the event of the blood worms they were like piranha. Any suggestions on what to feed the remaining eel? He is only about two and a half inches long and is pretty small. The one that died was very social and the other fish left him alone for the most part.

I feed mine bits of live earthworms/redworms,you can buy them as fishbait in most walmarts, those last awile.
I also collect them when it rains in the dark, they come out of there hole and you can just pick them up and put them in a container with newspaper and small amounts of ground up cheerios for food.

the worms are easy to hand feed, that's what I do.
