    Hello
I’ve just noticed that my peacock cichlid has got what seems a cloudy eye. It’s only on one eye, just 40% of it.
He eats normally and seems, otherwise healthy.
He’s in a 280l tank, we’ve had him for nearly a year and we’ve never had any problems in the tank at all.
Water gets changed every week, about 20% of it and gravel gets vacuumed as well.
Not sure what to do with him. Suggestions??

Cloudy eye can be caused either by injury, bacterial infection or a combination of both.
If the problem is an injury, upping the water change frequency and volume might help. Adding Melafix might also aid in healing.
A bacterial infection will require antibiotics. Even then, the damage caused by the bacteria is usually irreversible.
My Africans are always injuring each other. The damage is rarely serious and clean water normally heals it up. I do at least one 50% WC a week.
