So my sister asked me how much a 15 gallon pea puffer tank would cost I said it is about $3 per gallon(including filtration, tank and heater) is that right?

No. I've seen a 15 gallon tank (no lid, light, etc) go for $50 alone. Of course where you live it could be different, but I can't see setting up a tank for $3 per gallon unless you get a tank on a good deal.

Liek I have a 20 gallon with a filter that was $12, tank was $20 (PetCo sale), substrate was $10, lid $18 and light $30.
20 x 3 = 60. Total for the 20 was $90. So even this wasy I still stand by no, not $3 a gallon - and my price hasn't even included fish or hard scape or plants!

My 10 G kit was 29, gravel I forget but 10?, plants/wood/decorations 50?, the fish were 3.99 each plus expensive shipping, think it came to 49 and change for the fish, and I have a canister on it, canister was 40, just threw an AquaClear on it, 30.00 - I had the Aquaclear in my stock though so not an additional cost. Thermometer, bought 3 before one would keep the temp I wanted so 30.00.

So, without the AquaClear, it was around 168.00? I just ordered chemicals for it last night but I paid extra for 1 day shipping, but the chemicals came to 148, but I will use that on all my tanks.

Forgot to add on the cost of the snails and or live food they may eat. Just bought 100 for 29.00 live snails for them to eat, got some free ones from members here, and last week had ordered a bunch.

Also forgot the rack I have them on that I got just for them, 50.00.

I don't know. Do you have a lid, light, gravel, what are you doing for food, what filter was 10, air pump for 4, I have not looked though so, and my heater, bought two 50W that would not keep the heat because it is an ice cold air conditioned room, so finally went with 100W, 3 at around 10 bux each. You are lucky. I had nothing I needed for them, so it cost a lot.

No lid, light is a lamp above I already had the gravel and the filter was a tetra something. I didn’t count food as the equipment

Craigslist, complete tank would be like 30 bucks for a 10 gallon, it’s not gonna be as expensive as a lot of people say it is
