Pea puffer care and tank advice

So I got a pea puffer gifted to me.

I currently put him in a 10 gallon tank with no plants which will pick some up tomorrow. Any advice on care for the little guy. He is from a very well established tank. I used a media from another cycled tank.

He just seems super stressed and I want to make sure he thrives. I got blood worms for him as well and fed him one but he didn’t seem to interested. He was being fed live snails. Any advice is appreciated.

It’s probably stressed from the move and the new environment. Create a densely planted tank for it and offer live/frozen foods as well as snails and you should be fine.

I will pick up 3-4 plants tomorrow and I’m using a super fine gravel substrate similar to sand. Gave him a cave he can hide in until I get the plants.

I was going to put him in my 36 gallon but I have two big mystery snails that I’m fairly sure he would make their lives **** and a bunch of guppies.

will 3-4 plants be enough, I was thinking of some plants that stay low but kinda bush out. Would taller plants be better?

I’d mix it up - just create something that offers cover, hiding places and places to explore. Here’s a couple of threads for some inspiration:

Just a "Newbie" with Puffers here.
You've gotten some "Good" advise.
Take a look at the threads mentioned, some good info
Started mine in a 20 Long, going to move them to a 10g once I finish the "Under-watering gardening".

Post a pic once you get the plants

Good Luck!

So I added 5 plants and currently he is still upset for hands in the tank so I’m letting him chill. I got some pest snails from the pet store I will be feeding him shortly
Also added a pic of the little guy since he was front and center. I think it’s female though so little lady.
