HI people's

Could you please help me identify the white patch on my catfish, I only noticed it there this morning. It got me really worried. I'm not sure what to do.

Looks like fungus to me.

This is fatal to fish. I would first get some other opinions, but if it is fungus like I think it may be, you need to add some brand of anti-fungal med to your tank to save him. Injuries and bacterial infections can cause fish to become susceptible to fungus.

Good luck!

It's in the right spot for one of the classic symptoms of columnaris though I thought it was only fuzzy like that when it was on the mouth. I think aliray dealt with it recently.

Looks like columnaris to me. Just finished dealing with it in my tank.
Furan2, kanaplex, metroplex, salt, and lowering temp to 75-74 helped me

I agree it resembles columnaris, a bacterial disease.

Another cause of this type of symptom is heater burn.

Fungus is usually a secondary infection of existing damage in my experience.

No I haven't dealt with it, knock on wood, but I would look up what Double Dutch suggested. He is a lot more knowledgeable on Cory catfish then I am. Alison

A different name for Columnaris Alison.
Excuses for the short answer.
