Panda cory markings

Does anyone know if Panda Cory markings are genetic or varied? The reason I ask is that some of my Pandas markings are very faded so you can hardly see them and the same with some of the babies... Just curious really

They used to have Rasboras with them but they were separated after all the babies arrived as there wasn't enough space for all of them and the babies. They will all be going in a bigger 240l tank together soon

They actually don't look to bad this evening, which is surprising as I had everything out of the tank this afternoon looking for more dead! They're just all desperately glass surfing all up this one wall for some reason, never seen them all do that before.. Colours seem much better though

The one furthest right on this pic is a darker one

They didn't want to cooperate for photos, I'm guessing they're a bit stressed as they're ignoring the food as well

Thinking up loud :

The fact that they faint could be caused by the white / light substrate + bright light. They try to blend in and might not feel too well. The fact that they don't search for food, and hide is another sign for that.
Think about adding some leafs a.s.o.

The fish themselves do look healthy.
Don't know why the others died. Could be they encountered traces of ammonia / nitrites while the tank wasn't properly cycled. They are quite sensitive to that.

Thanks, Normally they do search for food, they're not tonight I think because I moved everything round. I'm going to order some leaves and alder cones tonight I think.

So you think I should dim the light? It's on its dimmest setting at the moment and clever tips on how to dim it further?

Add some floaters or plants that will grow along the surface

Hi. I bought 3 panda Cory's 4 months ago. One has always had a washed out colouring to it. I have heard the breeding style has created a sensitive breed, but my three are all equally healthy. They started glass surfing about one week ago. I am thinking they may be coming of age and are looking for a larger school to mate and be with. They are nocturnal and mostly come out at night. But do come out throughout the day as well. You can reduce the lighting by putting in frogbit floating plants, or if you have too much surface current for them, plant srem plants that will grow up and across the water surface.

Thanks, I did have some water lettuce but it started melting due to the lack of air circulation under the lid

I do like my frogbit. Gets around 2" in diameter. It does not melt under my plexaglass hood under led lamp. Every three weeks I grab a handful to throw out as it does multiply. Roots are delecate, so it doesn't like too much surface movement. Good at removing nitrates from the water column.
