Panda Cory Has Fungus On Tail Fin?

I have a panda cory with a white fuzz on its tail fin, and it's acting odd. Should I quarantine? How do I treat it?

I had one cory die a few months ago from what looked like fungus in its gills. I've been keeping the sand super clean since then because I figured it got some fish poo stuck in its gill or something. Was it actually contagious and I didn't realize?

Can we get a picture? What's the tank size? Water parameters, temperature, and other symptoms are appreciated.

Oops, sorry I should have thought of that. I couldn't get a good picture because it's hiding under everything. The size of the tank is 29 gallons. water parameters are 6 pH, 0 ammonia, 0 Nitrite, and 10 Nitrate. Temp is 75 F. The symptoms, besides the white fuzz, are just erratic swimming, and being avoided by the other cories.

All right. Can we get a picture? I'm assuming you could treat this easily with API Fungus Cure.

Okay, I got a picture, not sure if you can see it, but it actually has fuzz on its front fin too. Should I quarantine the fish to treat it, or treat the whole tank?

That looks really bad. Considering your previous corydora died from the same thing, I would treat the whole tank. Remove any activated carbon from your filtration system and use API Fungus Cure. Before doing so, perform a 80% water change using your travel vacuum. Good luck. This may be a secondary bacterial infection caused by a wound. Have they had any wounds?

No wounds that I saw; the tank is very peaceful, just CPD's and Cories. Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I had to work today and couldn't treat the tank, but it'll definitely happen tomorrow.

So yesterday I changed the water and added the Fungus Cure. Today the little cory with the fuzz was dead, but I'm going to do a full treatment of the tank to get rid of any lingering fungus. Thanks for the advice!

Ok, so I had the same thing happen to one of my cories when I first got the fellow. He is still alive today, but I was racing against time (he had fungus on his lung), so I used tweezers and took the fungus out itself. He has been so much happier since that happened. But I've also had fish for a long time, so I mainly did surgery on the fellow. Part of his lung is out which makes it harder to swallow food for him. He's in my Cory nursery. He has a big tummy. I don't suggest you going this because I know I shouldn't have done it, but I really had no choice because it was growing by the eye.
