Panda Cory food advice

My tank currently has three oto's, three long fin zebra danio's, and six panda cory's. For food I have some Tetra Pro Tropical Crisps:

And some HikarI minI algae wafers:

I was told by my LFS the cory's will do fine feeding on any left over crisps and will also eat the algae wafers. Is this true? I plan on getting some neon tetras in the next week or so, so other than the crisps and the minI algae wafers what all should I have so that the oto's, cory's, danio's, and tetras all have the right food?

For my corys I have shrimp pellets that I drop in after the turning the lights off. My corys and loaches love them. I believe they are called omega one shrimp pellets and most local fish stores should carry them. It would be great if you mixed a diet of algae wafers and shrimp pellets for your corys because it would keep them healthy and they would grow faster. As for your other fish the tetra pro tropical crisps should do the job. Most other fake foods would do well with zebra danios. Hope this helps

While corys may eat food that hit the bottom, they still need their own food. They get little to no nutrition from algae wafers.

I feed my corys Omega One shrimp pellets on the days I feed flakes for my other fish and then on other days, everyone gets NLS Thera A+ pellets, Omega One micro pellets and frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms. This works well for me and everyone gets their share of food each day.

Algae wafers aren't good for corydoras. Their digestive tract isn't built to absorb nutrients from plant or algae matter. They are carnivorous so shimp pellets, as mentioned already are good. HikarI has fish based wafers that are also good.

Live and frozen food also work. I feed my corydoras live tubifex worms, frozen blood worms, and frozen brine shrimp.

I really don't like any Tetra brand food because it's mostly fillers and left over scraps of fish. New Life Spectrum, Omega-One, and HikarI are brands that have better quality.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Time to head to Amazon and order some more food.

Edit:

Okay, just ordered the Omege One shrimp pellets. For six panda cory's how many should I drop in per day?

I saw some HikarI frozen brine, bloodworms, and tubifex on Amazon last night. I'll probably buy one or two of these soon.

There's nothing like watching corys eat bloodworms... it's like watching them eat spaghetti... slluurrrrp!! so cute.

For the pellets, you can try dropping 3-4 or crushing them before feeding. They enjoy foraging for the little bits.

Alright, thanks for your help. I just ordered these HikarI bloodworms.

Both the worms and shrimp pellets get here tomorrow, with these, the algae wafers and tetra pro crisps I think I'm covered now. I wish I wouldn't have purchased such a large can of the crisps now that I've read Tetra doesn't make the best quality food. I'll definitely buy one of the better brands next time.

Make sure to soak the dried bloodworms in a cup of aquarium water for at least 1 minute or 2. They do expand and if it expands in the fishes stomach, it can cause bloat and constipation.

Try to get the frozen kind next time. Much better than the freeze dried.

Is there anything wrong with mixing up all of the food I have and feeding it on a daily basis? Yesterday I ground up some shrimp pellets and mixed them in with flakes and some bloodworms. Everything was eaten in 5-10 minutes, so I was planning on doing this on a daily basis. I ask because some people seem to feed certain foods on certain days, is this just a cost cutting measure or is there a dietary reason for this?

Blood worms are high in protein and not much else and that's why it's given as a treat. The flakes and the shrimp pellets should be fed daily as the staple diet. Cory cats eat the pellets and the danios eat the flakes. Any flakes that sink to the bottom will be eaten by the cory cats.

That protein is just what Corys need !!

I agree, I was just answering OP's question as to why some people only feed it on certain days.
