Panda Cories White Lines In Tails?

They don't seem to be acting any different (yet?) but I've noticed their tails have some white streaks in them. None of the other fish (cherry barbs) have this so I'm guessing it could be something in the substrate? It wasn't there when I went to bed last night.

Does anyone know what this is, if anything, and how to treat it? My guesses are ich ur some kind of fungus.

On closer inspection they seem to have it on a little more than just their tails and it looks less like ich than I thought. I have a scheduled water change planned for after work today too.

It looks more like a scratch. Maybe he got stuck in a decoration.

Could be, there's not really any narrow spaces that they couldn't squeeze through but who knows what they do when it asleep. This is a possibility I hadn't considered and I hope it's the case. Guess I'll know if it gets any worse in the morning. Thanks for the reply!

There seems.to be excessive mucus on the tail and the body. Think iit is caused by skinirritation. could be parasites but more plausible is waterconditions.

Personally I think the substrate could be due to that (food falling down in it and getting out of reach).

I did notice one of them roll on its side this morning like it had an itch. I recently cut back feeding to once a day instead of twice; I read somewhere that young cories need a bit more protein as they're growing but they were looking a bit chubby so.

Another sign of irritation.
They need to be "chubby"
See what happens after some waterchanges (with Melafix if you've that)

I meant chubbier than usual lol, but good to know! I just did a 35-40%ish water change last night, will probably take a while to see some improvement. I don't have melafix but I'll definitely grab some.

If there's one thing I've learned after getting back into fishkeeping is buy medicine before you buy fish.

Melafix isn't a real med but a natural "oil" which appeares to have a beneficial effect on irritated fishskin.

I wouldn't use it in case of a real infection.

Well it may come in handy in the future. I'd rather have what I need to treat something than not, y'know?

DoubleDutch I'm pleased to report that whatever was affecting the cories has been clearing up nicely! It never seemed to damper their usual activity and all it took was a water change and some patience. It's still visible but not anywhere near as much as it was last Wednesday!
