I want to get a Tactical Advantage Paradox its only a basic gun but its better than my friends old Blade

I have never heard of that company before, if I were you I would just go with a Tippmann and spend the extra money, it's worth it in the long run. They can undure so much and still work it's amazing and the customs you can customize a lot and they shoot really well.

I play speed ball and tourney. I am not a big fan of woods ball. I like the fast paise game of air ball.

O I like woodsball a lot though I haven't played speedball really since it's too expensive for me since i'm too young though next year I hope to get a job since I'll be 16 then and go to some tourney's with some of my friends that can drive me there with them. Do you win a lot of stuff or is it basically just like spending money to have fun, I know by me if you win you can win stuff otherwise it's like 100+ for three or five people entry fee plus paint.

Tumbleweed
  • #17
In some of the bigger tourneys you can win some money, but usually it is just enough to cover all of the fees for playing in the tourney. In the smaller ones you win gear, like markers, paint, packs and that kind of stuff. It just depends on the size of the tourney and who is puting it on. Yeah speed ball can get expesive, you tend to go through a lot of paint. On a typical weekend I go through1500-2000 rounds of paint.

Ya I think I might be going on a team with my friend but I have to talk to him about it. Do you know how to get sponsored?

Tumbleweed
  • #19
Getting sponsord is not easy. You need to have a team first and play in a couple of tourneys first. After that you have something that you can take to a company to try and get a sponsorship from them. Also try and look at companies other then paintball stores and paintball related compaines. Some times getting your local tirshirt making company to sponsor you by getting you shirts is easier then anything else.

Cool thanks for the advice. Just curious I was wondering if you have any experience with the rikochet apache hopper or freak barrels because I think I might be getting those eventually.

I don't know much about that hopper. I pesonally use the Halo B loader. As for the freak barrel kits I have it and Like it alot.

Ok thanks. My friend said the freak Jr. and freak barrel systems are the same just the freak comes with more of the threads or extra barrel parts, is that true? Ya currently I have a smart parts linear barrel on my pilot acs and that's it. I'm looking into compressed air using a scuba diving tank because my friend said a guy near me sells them for that and paintballs because a lot of his scuba divers play paintball, ever hear of that. And I hope to get a stock good barrel and faster hopper next fall when I can get a job though I might save up and get the compressed air this spring.

The Freak jr kit just comes with less of the inserts, then the standard freak kit cmes with. Yeah I have a scuba tank and use it on ocation I get it filled a local scuba shop. The only thing is at the fields I play with it only costs me $8 for all day air so it is easier and cheap enough for me to just use the air fill at the field.

O so is there any disadvantage to having less inserts because if I wanted one wouldn't it be cheaper just to go and buy it separately? So scuba tanks do work your saying but do you have to have them filled at the scuba place and there a lot cheaper right, what size tank should I get? Sorry for all the questions if you don't want to answer them you don't have to. Thanks for all the help you'v provided for me so far though.

Not a problem glad I can help. To be honest I only use 2 may be 3 of the inserts from my kit so all of the inserts in a kit mybe not needed. Alos I have a regular full size scuba tank but I really don't use it much. You have to by the tank and the fill nossel for the tank then have it filled at the scuba shop and carry it back and forth from your house to the field every time you play. I find it is just a lot easier to buy all day air at the field. Anytime you have a question just ask I am glad to help or answer any of your questions.

Ok but if I just play in woods by my house would it be cheaper to use a scuba dive tank? Ok so I take it would be better to just buy a freak jr. if i'm trying to save money for other upgrades then. Do the inserts just extend the barrel? Are there any other barrels you would recommend for me, I'm currently considering freak jr. or possibly an apex but i'm not real sure about the cleaning on the apex I still have to talk to a friend about that one but I just play woodsball currently but I'm hoping to buy a barrel that would be compatible for both so I don't know but what barrel would be best for me do you have any personal opinons. Thanks.

No they are inserts and you have a back and a front barrel and the inserts go inside the back barrel and just change the diameter in the barrel to hel[p better air flow through the barrel. Yes if you are playing woodsball just in your back yard a scuba tank might be a good idea.

Do you know how much a scuba dive tank is compared to a compressed air tank that would get 800-1000 shots and do you knoow if it costs more to fill if you have a scuba tank? Do you know anything about homemade smoke bombs and mines that you can use for woodsball because some of my friends and I are trying to make some to use but we might just buy paint mines since there handy in woods ball?

Tumbleweed
  • #29
If you get a scuba tank you will still need a compressed air tank for your marker, teh scuba tank is just a fill station for teh compressed air tank you carry with you. A scuba tank cost me used $200 and it cost me $15 a fill at a local dive shop. I son't know much about smoke bombs and paint bombs I don't use them.

O so you still have to buy a compressed air tank which are expensive and the scuba tank is just used as a fill tank you can't buy a smal scuba tank and use it on your gun that's what I though.

  • #31
nope sorry. You can get compressed air tank used off of ebay for fairley cheap. Just find out the date on them. Steal tank need to be sent in and test every 2 years and carbon fiber every 5.

What size compressed air tanks can you buy and how many shots can you get per size because I have no idea and I'm looking into getting one with x-mas money when it comes around or sooner. Is it true you loose some shots when you use a remote line too?

Tumbleweed
  • #34
yes you do loose some shots do to the extra hoses and conections in the system. The come in a few different size. They are 48 68 78 88 cI tanks. For what you do I would recomned a 68cI tank. That is a pretty standard tank and very well rounded. As to how many shots you get depents on your marker and how much air in needs to operate. With my 68cI tank on my timmy I get around 700-800 shots per tank and withe the angel I get around 800-900 shots. Most likely you can expect to get any where from 600-1000 shots per tank.

Ok 68cI tank is the one I'll look into getting then. Do 78 cI tanks get more shots? My friend was talking bout the make of the bottle too does it matter that much like what the bottle is made out of? And sorry for so many questions but do you know of anything I should know about using co2 during the winter.

Tumbleweed
  • #36
yes you would get more out of a 78 or even a 88cI tank then a 68ci. The only problem is the tanks start to get larger heavier and hard to carry. A 68cI is usually a good all around tank. Also your friend is probably refering to a steel tank and a carbon fiber tank. The main difference that you have to worry about is the price and the weight. The carbon fiber is much lighter but it also costs more. My opion though is that a carbon fiber tank is worth the money. On a steel tank if you dent it you can no longer use it, carbon fiber will not dent as easily. Just something to consider since you play woods ball. Also I cannot be much help with c02 in the witer since I live in CA it doe not get that cold here in the winter. I believe however that your pressure will go up since the colder it gets the more dense teh c02 will get. Also a good online store to look at is fist call paintball. They tand to have some of the best prices around.

Can you play with an electronic marker in the rain?

Tumbleweed

you can, just don't put it into any puddles or submerge it and make sure to dry it off well when done for the day

Ok well I didn't submerge it or anything when I played yesterday when it rained. We had a good game though 10v10. I might be going to a tournement with some friends too. I say a freak barrel at my paintball store for 50$ but I would assume it doesn't come with any inserts or only one. Would it be better for me to just buy that or a kit because my smart parts linear barrel doesn't work no my acs it jus tmakes my balls curve like crazy and I don't know why because I tried changing velocity and cleaning it. O is 68cI the same as 68cu?

Well my friends and I are in the works of forming a speedball team. My friends grandpa owns his own company and might sponsor us and pay for your paint and entrance fee's into tournements leaving us to get uniforms and any gear we want. My friend said that the sponsor can get money back with tax refunds is this true, and does this type of sponsorship good. Any tips you might have for us if you have any are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Austin
