Anyone know of good paint for glass fish tank. Something that is relatively cheap. Thinking black paint.

I use Rust-O-leum blue metallic, hammered black metallic, and flat black for my backgrounds - I even use florescent paints with glitter in them to paint on the back glass, then cover with the spray paint.

Of course, you paint the OUTSIDE of the glass, not what comes in contact with the water.

I've painted several of my pipes and made my own with PVC.. basic enamal paint is non-toxic once it dries.

King of diy on YouTube has videos on 3d backgrounds that do inside the tank... He paints em, but can't remember what with.

I think it's 'colored' concrete in those videos.

I am guessing that you are planning on painting the "outside " of the tank. Go to Lowes Home Improvement - they have store brand Gloss Black Spray Paint for around a buck a can. Tape off the plastic trim and spray paint the back glass. It will take a few coats - you can look from the front of the tank to see the areas that will need more paint. Recommend you do this outside.

Your color options are limitless when you go to Lowe's and have them mix you a paint sample in your color of choice.
Apply paint to outside of glass with a sponge roller and you're good to go.

CAUTION: Do not apply paint to acrylic.

I used window film... It was hard to apply, and every bubble or crease shows up inside the tank. Paint from now on!

Can't trust everything you read on the internet, doh.

If you wet the surface with a "wetting agent," such as RODI water or a light mineral oil (don't use organic oil - it'll rancidify; olive oil is especially stinky...), you can then squeegee the air bubbles out.

PITA if you ask me - done it a few times with expensive vinyl backgrounds. I'll never do anything but paint again. SO much easier. And it looks better, too, if you ask me.

It's Drylok mixed with concrete coloring. I've done it on a 3D background of mine and it looks great and is fish-safe.
