Outside rocks in aquarium?

So, I found these rocks outside. They've been outside a long time.

I was wondering if I do a bleach dip and a hot water/boiling wash, would they be ok in my 5g? I want to use them for aquascaping.

They're most likely some kind of granite, cause we get a lot of that in CO.

Im getting weird vibes from the smaller one... Probably just gonna do the big one if that works.

Advice?

Nope, I think do a bleach dip, and a boil. If they’re from your backyard, though, you have to be careful of pesticides and anti fungus sprays

Would they be ok or not? Sorry got mixed messages from your comment
Luckily we don't use any pesticides or weed killers, worst thing would be snow/rainwater. We don't use fertilizer either.

Give it a hot rinse and scrub. Boiling is overkill.

Great, thank you! I'll probably do a bleach dip and a scrub then

Yeah, I thought about that when i put the nope. I meant it should be fine as long as there’s no chemicals on them

If you want to see if they are inert you can always do tbe vinegar test. If it fizzs they shouldn't be used. I usually just rinse mine and set them in.

Great, thank you for the tip. If it does fizz can I do a boil/bleach dip to clean it?

Fizz would mean it will leach minerals into the water and more then likely raise your ph.

Oh, thank you for clarifying!

david1978 I did the vinegar test, and there was no visble fizzing anywhere on the big rock (the only one I intend to use) but when I lifted the rock to my ear I could very faintly hear some bubbles popping. Does that count as fizzing or...?

No only if the fizz is visibly seem. Viniger will make some sound on anything.
