hI guys,
the other day I was feeding my little 15 gallon and my otto's had bred!
I constantly hear all these stories that ottos really don't thrive in captive conditions and often don't last longer than a week.

well, 6 months later and what looks like multiple different lots of fry (based on the size difference of the fry) i'm here to debunk the myth surrounding ottos that they die too easily!

BTW that isn't the story.
Some have difficulty to adapt being wildcaught and often underfed.
There are a lot member having them thriving but not spawning.
Coradee had fry I believe.

Yep no pics no proof

Hoping to get mine to spawn. I had 15 that slowly whittled away to one. Didn't think about him much and ended up getting a crayfish. Walked by one night, and the crayfish was eating him. Fought the crayfish and moved the little guy into my 75. He thrived four 4-5 months, and just a few weeks ago I got another 18. I knew I lost 3, but could only ever count 8-9 at a time. When I turned the filters and circulation pump off for a water change tonight, all 16 grouped up and hung out for awhile. There's plenty of algae for them and my plants are finally coming along pretty well, so hoping to have some babies soon.

the fry are so cute! theyre so little hahaha.
DoubleDutch the key is to look really hard at the spots where you think they aren't lol.
I didnt see them for ages until I actually looked in around the rocky area in my tank. they blend in perfectly to the rocky background.
