Otocinclus eating Cory food

Hi everyone,
I have 2 Otos with some Pygmy corys. I feed them algae wafers for the otos, and Hikari sinking wafers for the corys. I’ve noticed the otos seem to prefer the sinking wafers, but Ive heard those are too high in protein for them. Has anyone ever had experience keeping these two fish together? Is it okay that the otos are eating the sinking wafers, or is there a way for me to be able to feed them separately?

Otos are fine with protein, their diet is not pure algae but also the microorganisms that grows in biofilm which is actually high in protein

Thanks, I’m glad to hear that! I saw somewhere that it causes bloat, and their bellies are pretty round .

Lots of things causes bloat, overfeeding and poor water quality mostly.

agree. Otos are more "carnivoriois" than thought. They even eat frozen or living food
