Other Platys Pecking At Female Blue Mm Platy

My male red tail Dalmatian platy and my male sword tail platy have been pecking at my female blue MM platy like she was dead or dying, but she isn’t dead. Why are they doing this? The swordtail even pecked at her eye.

Also my female black Molly is eating the other fishes poop. Is that normal?

 

The female blue platy is likely ill, weak or at the bottom of the hierarchy. You best separate her as it sounds like their bullying will end up killing her.

A fish will try eating anything that is floating about in the water column, poo included. They usually realize it is poo and spit it back out though.

 

They are harassing her.

You should have a ratio of at least 1:2 males to female sexual to diffuse harassment.

 

I should have let you know, these events aren’t linked and they don’t do it all the time, it’s just every so often that this happens.

I have 1 female red tail Dalmatian, the female blue mm platy and I have a female swordtail platy. So I have three female platys in my tank.(4 if you count the female Molly) There are only two males (swordtail & redtail)

Also I saw the male red tail and the female red tail look like they cornered her in the tank, she put her dorsal fin down and the red tails swam away.

The Molly isn’t spitting the poop out. I watched. She eats it. She also goes after fish that have poop hanging and eats it off of them. It’s very weird.

 

Because swordtails and platies interbreed your ratios are off you have 1 to 1.5 and honestly they do way better 1 to 3 than 1 to 2
